About Emily
A childhood spent on the rural Warwickshire-Oxfordshire border greatly influenced Emily’s work. Working and living alongside animals led her to consider deeply the ancient partnership between people and livestock. Animals regularly appear as symbols across her artistic practice.
Emily has a background in Western Classical music having studied violin, piano and voice for over thirteen years. This interest in music informs her visual artistic practice which regularly incorporates spontaneous gesture and an emphasis upon keen listening and observation. In 2019-20 Emily studied composition at Birmingham Conservatoire as part of the Young Composer’s Project and her choral composition ‘All in Green’, a setting of the poem by E.E Cummings, has been performed in esteemed venues such as Leiston Abbey, Snape Maltings and The Guild Chapel in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Emily Hoyle is a British multidisciplinary artist specialising in painting, drawing and sculpture. A recent graduate of Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford, she has led an exciting early career with her work already featured in private collections across the UK, New Zealand and the USA. She enjoys integrating Classical aesthetics and techniques into the contemporary moment, honouring common human experiences across varying time and place. Emily draws inspiration for her subject matter across the disciplines of history, literature, music and psychology.
